Eat Yogurt to Lower Cholesterol

While breast cancer gets the press, heart disease remains the number one killer of American women. Stoke takes the number three spot. Eating healthy food is one of the best ways to protect yourself from these killers and yogurt can help.
The Fat Has Got to Go
Lowing your blood cholesterol is the first step to lower your risk of coronary artery disease. Cholesterol clogs your arteries just like gunk clogs your bathroom drain. But when the blood can't flow, it can't spill over the sink on to the floor. Instead, you end up with a heart attack or stroke.
The easiest way to reduce the amount of saturated and trans fats in your diet is to replace fat like butter, margarine and shortening with yogurt.
Dairy milk contains conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) which has been shown to prevent the formation of cholesterol plaques. Studies at the Pomeranian Academy of Medicine in Poland indicate that good bacteria found in yogurt may reduce several risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease.
Never underestimate the power of yogurt cheese to replace most of the fat in your foods. Learn more about yogurt cheese here and enjoy this heart healthy yogurt mayonnaise replacement that you will soon love more than the original.
Yogurt Mayonnaise
Most yogurt mayonnaise recipes contain mayonnaise, butter and/or eggs. This is a 100 percent nutritious, lower fat alternative. It has heart healthy olive oil for even more punch.
- 3 cups yogurt lightly drained
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1teaspoon pressed garlic
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/8 teaspoon stevia
Strain the excess whey from the yogurt and combine with the remaining ingredients.
Refrigerate in a tight fitting container for up to 7 days.
Without the binders found in commercial mayonnaise, you may will need to re-stir the ingredients with each use.
Unlike classic mayonnaise, this tasty dressing can be used as a dip or sauce.
