Causes of Low Probiotic Levels
A healthy gut is host to about 750 trillion live microorganisms. An unhealthy one, well..not so many.
We benefit by hosting live "good" bacteria, because these microorganisms keep the microflora in the intestines at a healthy balance. This balance doesn't just benefit the intestines, it has a profound effect on the immune system and other body functions.
It's no surprise that modern day life can really throw your system out of balance and it's no wonder you often feel that imbalance in your gut. While antibiotics get the blame, and rightfully so, for being the worst promoter of microfloral imbalance, you might be surprised at some of the other offenders:
| Aging process | Fungi | Illness |
| Over-the-counter medications | Low fiber diet | Low nutrition diet |
| High sugar intake | High animal fats intake | Parasites |
| Prescription medications | Stress | Yeasts |
In other words, the typical American lifestyle and diet pretty much guarantee a poor microfloral environment. Your body was meant to be a good host to good bacteria. Yogurt is by far the easiest and least expensive way to get your intestinal flora environment balanced. And you get something really good to eat!
